Peg Perego Stroller
The Peg Perego stroller has an interesting history that began in Italy way back in the late 1940s.
The Peg Perego Stroller Story
What’s an Italian father to do when there isn’t a good baby stroller for his newborn son? He invents one!
And that’s exactly what Giuseppe Perego did way back in 1949. And during walks around his neighborhood, his attractive baby carriage caught many an eye. Local parents also wanted a quality product like Mr. Perego’s invention so they could take walks with their little ones.
Supply and demand. Pure and simple. That’s where it all started for Peg Perego over 60 years ago. A quality-built product with a built in demand. The recipe for business success!
Soon word got around and many parents wanted one of these unique and well-built strollers for their own. Seeing a whole new market, Perego launched into manufacturing high chairs and other products specifically designed for little people.
Things were humming along and then in the 60’s, the company entered a new phase and began producing riding vehicles for children.
Perego did not invent the pedal-operated riding vehicles. But what was being produced at that time where made of steel. And they rusted out fairly quickly.
What Perego did was make their pedal-powered riding toys out of injected molded plastic. Genius! These cars where very durable and kids loved them. Perego set the bar high for quality-built products with an eye on making them safe for active children.
The Perego family has never rested on past successes and today. It’s still a family-run enterprise committed to the original principles that Giuseppe launched the business on those many years ago: products that are beautiful, durable, safe and extremely functional for parents and children.
